When Mary's parents suddenly die in India, she goes to live with her uncle in a large, dark, lonely house in England. Mary is not happy in her new home, but she soon discovers the key to a secret garden. She meets new friends; Dickon who can charm animals, and Colin who is very ill and cannot walk.
