   Gogol est absolument unique dans l'histoire des littératures mondiales. Celles-ci comptent de nombreux humoristes mais aucun n'a exploité autant que Gogol le moyen de dire une chose en affirmant son contraire. En même temps, il manifeste un amour si profond de cette vie dont il semble se moquer, que son texte en prend un relief extraordinaire. Son humour n'est pas l'humeur d'un pisse-froid, d'un atrabilaire, d'un frustré. Il y a chez lui une joie de vivre qui le distingue d'un autre humoriste célèbre, mais sinistre dans son pessimisme systématique: Franz Kafka. Si Gogol s'exclame si continûment sur l'intelligence de ses personnages, c'est qu'il voudrait qu'ils fussent intelligents. Car il les aime, et il nous les fait aimer. Son humour ne les détruit pas, mais leur donne vie et couleur. Les deux Ivan ne sont que des pauvres types, qui se disputent pour un rien, vont en justice pour un rien, se sont préparés, pour un rien, une vieillesse lamentable, mais à aucun moment ils ne nous semblent être des caricatures. Ils restent intensément vivants, intensément vrais, grâce à la manière oblique qu'adopte Gogol pour nous montrer leur nullité. L'humour, précisément, transforme des êtres nuls en êtres de poésie. C'est là le miracle de cet auteur.

   Tchekhov est un écrivain russe, auteur de récits, de contes et de pièces de théâtre, reconnu comme l'un des plus grands écrivains de la littérature mondiale. Cependant, en 1898, mise en scène de «la Mouette» de Moscou Artistique du Théâtre a eu un énorme succès auprès du public et de la critique qui a incité d'Anton Tchekhov à la création de plus de trois chefs — d'œuvre-jeux de la «Oncle Vania», «les Trois soeurs» et «la cerisaie». Peut-être pas l'une des pièces de Tchekhov n'est pas suscité autant de controverse que chez les contemporains de l'écrivain, et plus tard, des chercheurs de sa créativité. Ce n'est pas un hasard, car c'est avec «la mouette appelée» associent la formation de Tchekhov-dramaturge, son innovation dans ce domaine de la littérature.
