Picasso and His Time: The Berggruen Museum

«The Berggruen Museum houses one of the world's most importan collections of classic Modernist art. The main focus of the collection is the work of Picasso, represented by some ninety pieces, as the culmination of Modernism. In the words of the colledtor Heinz Berggruen, Picasso represents the «great symphony» in twentieth-centruy art. Also in the collection are over fifty works by Paul Klee, the «master of chamber music» and one of Berggruen's first passions. In 2011 a sensational find came to light in Andy Warhol's estate: an extensive collection of drawings that provides impressive evidence of Warhol's artistic talents. He used iconic photographs and magazine illustrations, many of which were taken from Life magazine, as inspiration. This publication explores these sources and presents them in juxtaposition. Drawing was an essential element of Warhol's everyday life during his early years in New York. He was particularly inspired by the blossoming magazine culture and its pictorial language. Extensive research has now identified the majority of the sources he used. Warhol drew a large number of subjects from the world-famous Life magazine. This publication presents notable examples of the copying technique developed by Warhol, known as blotted line, and presents the drawings in direct juxtaposition with the sources that he used. The accompanying essays explore Andy Warhol's unique design process and his very own method for making transfers between the media of photography and drawing.

Ce livre est une théorie d'ensemble de la traduction. Par son point de vue et son ampleur, il n'a pas d'équivalent parmi les ouvrages qui traitent du traduire. Il propose une critique, c'est-à-dire une fondation, des principes qui relient l'acte de traduire à la littérature. Il commence par l'examen des idées reçues, et l'histoire de la traduction en Europe, continent culturel bâti sur des traductions. L'objet est de fonder la nécessité de tenir l'acte de traduire, et ses résultats, par le fonctionnement des oeuvres littéraires. D'où une critique de l'étude des traductions comme discipline autonome, qui revient à la remettre aux seules questions de sens, en méconnaissant que le langage fait autant et plus qu'il ne dit. La question de la poétique est comment. Seule une théorie d'ensemble du langage et de la littérature peut situer la spécificité du traduire. Car on ne traduit pas seulement des langues, mais des textes. Si on l'oublie, cet oubli se voit. La théorie et la pratique sont inséparables. På svenska! 2 På svenska 2 develops knowledge aquired from the beginner's book. The teaching material targets students who already have a sound grasp of the basics. It is also appropriate for self-study. The Textbook's 10 sections comprise everyday dialogues and factual texts on topics such as the Swedish language, Swedish history and culture, environmental issues and sport. The ability to express oneself orally is practised through discussion topics which are related to the theme of the section. Each section ends with a listening comprehension exercise.
